Joint manipulation (high-velocity, low-amplitude technique, HVLA) is a manual therapy technique using a fast impulse of small amplitude at the end of the available joint movement. It is performed with the joint carefully pre-positioned.

A characteristic feature is the frequently audible sound (cavitation) during the technique. Manipulations are used in spinal and extremity therapy and are part of various concepts such as manual therapy according to Maitland or Kaltenborn. Indications and contraindications are checked on the basis of a structured assessment, including red flags.
