Coordination exercises are exercises that specifically challenge and train the interplay of the central nervous system with the skeletal muscles. They address abilities such as balance, orientation, rhythm, reaction, differentiation and coupling.

Typical examples are single-leg stance, exercises on unstable surfaces, reaction and throwing tasks, coordinated step sequences and dual-task exercises. Coordination exercises are used in prevention, rehabilitation after injuries, neurological therapy and competitive sport. Difficulty, speed and dual-task components are adapted individually to the patient's abilities and therapy goals.
