Strength training in physiotherapy is structured training with the aim of building muscle strength, strength endurance and intermuscular coordination as part of a therapeutic measure. It is a component of medical training therapy and device-supported exercise therapy.

Load, repetitions, speed and rest periods are determined according to the training goal (maximum strength, hypertrophy, strength endurance, speed strength) and the individual's load tolerance. Free exercises, machines, resistance bands and body weight are all used. Fields of application include rehabilitation after operations and injuries, treatment of chronic musculoskeletal complaints, and sports physiotherapy.
