Device-supported exercise therapy (German: Krankengymnastik am Gerät, KGG) is a medical training therapy performed on special training equipment under the supervision and guidance of a physiotherapist. It is an extended form of exercise therapy and is prescribed by a physician.
The focus is on strength, endurance, coordination and mobility exercises on sequence-training, cable-pull and functional machines. Load, repetitions and range of motion are determined individually based on diagnosis, load tolerance and therapy goals. KGG is frequently used in orthopaedic, trauma and rheumatological rehabilitation.
