Reflexology is a manual procedure based on the model that certain skin areas (reflex zones) are connected reflexively with internal organs and other body regions. Well-known variants include foot reflexology according to Eunice Ingham and Hanne Marquardt.

During treatment, reflex zones are worked on with defined pressure techniques, stroking and circular movements. Fields of application include functional complaints of the musculoskeletal system, exhaustion, stress, and accompanying therapy for chronic complaints. The mechanisms and scope of action are assessed inconsistently in the scientific literature, which is why reflexology is used as a complement to medical and physiotherapy treatment.
