The adductors are a group of skeletal muscles on the medial side of the thigh. They include the adductor longus, adductor brevis, adductor magnus, gracilis and pectineus muscles.
Their main function is adduction of the hip joint, i.e. bringing the leg towards the body's midline. Anatomically, they mostly originate at the pubic bone and insert along the linea aspera of the femur. Besides adduction, they contribute to pelvic stabilisation and to the fine control of leg movement in standing and walking.
