The anamnesis is the systematic recording of a patient's history and current complaints. In physiotherapy it opens the assessment process and provides the basis for the subsequent physical examination and treatment planning.
It covers, among other things, the main complaint, character and location of pain, its course over time, triggering and relieving factors, previous illnesses, operations, medication, social and occupational situation, and the patient's individual goals. Special forms include the patient's own account and accounts from relatives. Red-flag and yellow-flag questions are integrated to identify warning signs relevant to treatment.
